The Financial Case

Real Numbers for Your Home

Every home is different. We model the specifics — your roof, your usage, your utility rates — so you see exactly what the investment looks like.

Property Value

Homes with solar installations sell for more. It's a permanent improvement that buyers recognize and appraisers account for — a tangible addition to your home's value.

Predictable Costs

Utility rates have increased consistently for decades. Solar locks in a significant portion of your electricity costs at today's rate — permanently. Your neighbors' bills go up; yours stay flat.

Backup Power

When the grid goes down, your batteries keep the lights on. Otto's systems include battery storage by design — your home runs on what you own, not what the utility delivers.

Minimal Maintenance

No moving parts. No fuel. No monthly service. An annual visual inspection is all that's recommended. The system works quietly on your roof, year after year.

Straight Answers

Homeowner Concerns

Concern 01

"What if I sell my house?"

Solar installations increase property value. Buyers consistently pay more for homes with owned (not leased) solar systems. It's a selling point, not a liability. If you own the system outright, it transfers with the home and adds to your asking price.

Concern 02

"Will it damage my roof?"

A properly installed system actually protects the portion of roof it covers from direct weather exposure. We assess roof condition before installation and won't install on a roof that needs replacement first. All penetrations are flashed and sealed to manufacturer specifications.

Concern 03

"What about snow and weather?"

Panels are engineered for Northern Indiana weather — snow load, hail, temperature extremes. Snow slides off the smooth glass surface more readily than shingles. Panels actually produce more efficiently in cold temperatures. We design for local conditions, not best-case scenarios.

Concern 04

"How do I know I'm not being oversold?"

We size systems based on your actual usage data and property characteristics — not on maximizing our invoice. If a smaller system makes more financial sense, that's what we'll recommend. We'd rather build a system that delivers exactly what we promised than one that looks impressive on paper.

It depends on system size, roof complexity, and your energy goals. Most residential systems fall between $15,000–$35,000 before incentives. We provide exact pricing after a site assessment — no ballpark guesses designed to get you on the hook.
Yes. The federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) currently covers 30% of system costs. Indiana and local incentives may also apply. We factor all available incentives into your proposal so you see the real net cost.
Most residential installations are completed in 2–4 days of on-site work. The full timeline from signed contract to operational system — including permits, procurement, and commissioning — is typically 6–10 weeks. Otto's systems do not require utility interconnection applications. We give you a specific timeline upfront and stick to it.
Panels carry 25-year manufacturer warranties on both product and power output. Inverters are warrantied for 12–25 years depending on the model. We also stand behind our installation workmanship. All warranty details are documented in your proposal.
