1. How Customers Opt In
Customers opt in to receive SMS messages from Otto Power Company during the inspection booking process at ottopower.co. The opt-in flow works as follows:
- The customer generates a ballpark solar quote by entering their property address.
- The customer proceeds to book a site inspection and enters their contact details (name, email, phone).
- The customer selects "Text" as their preferred contact method.
- An unchecked-by-default SMS consent checkbox appears (shown below).
- The customer may check the box to opt in. Checking the box is not required — the customer can proceed with "Text" selected whether or not the box is checked. SMS consent is entirely optional.
2. Consent Checkbox (Exact Reproduction)
The following is the exact consent checkbox as it appears in the checkout flow. It uses the same styling and language as the live site. The checkbox is always unchecked by default. Checking it is optional — customers can proceed without opting in.
3. Key Compliance Details
- Unchecked by default — The checkbox is never pre-checked. Customers must actively opt in.
- Not required for purchase — SMS consent is entirely voluntary. Customers who select "Text" as their preferred contact method can complete the booking process without checking the SMS consent box. Customers may also choose "Email" or "Phone" instead.
- Brand identification — The consent language identifies "Otto Power Co" as the sender.
- Message types disclosed — Account notifications, 2FA codes, and updates.
- Frequency disclosure — "Message frequency varies."
- Rate disclaimer — "Message and data rates may apply."
- Opt-out instructions — "Reply STOP to unsubscribe."
- Help instructions — "Need assistance? Text HELP."
- Legal links — Links to Privacy Policy (Section 5: SMS/Text Messaging) and Terms & Conditions (Section 7: SMS Communications).
